Tougher days make us appreciate normalcy more. The past year has been nothing short of a real-life example of this. We have grown to embrace and appreciate the smallest of things that we took for granted. The pandemic has taken a lot from us, and in the process, has taught us to be familiar with the emptiness. It has made us look towards the abundance we have had and be grateful for being healthy and happy today. This year, on the Fourth of July, we at WMH want you to celebrate our country, our community, and us who came out of this crisis kinder and stronger.
For the many years, 245 to be precise, we have always remembered the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for our freedom on our independence day. We have been grateful to the hundreds and thousands of soldiers on the border, safeguarding our lives day and night. But, this year of the pandemic has taught us more. This year has shown us how we have been overlooking all the elements that made us functional.
We have ignored every other human who made our every day possible. And, this is the time for us to realize, every helper, every aid, we overlooked make America, what it is. From the ones safeguarding us at the borders to the people who relentlessly went on sanitizing each nook and corner of the state, every day multiple times. This Fourth of July, take a moment to remember those and express your gratitude.
When the pandemic began, we celebrated our doctors, nurses, and medical staff as angels descended from heaven. But, although our social media was full of thank you messages, unfortunately,
we could not convert the social media love to reality in most cases. Of course, all of us were thankful, but doctors who worked in COVID wards were subjected to discrimination. To those doctors whom we hurt, and yet they chose to serve us without a break, all we can grant is, our apologies. Let us hope to be better individuals towards those who are selfless in what they do. Can we imagine today without these people? In biological warfare, we thank those who sacrificed their physical and mental health, for our peace.
All of us rejoiced when the government asked us to go maskless. But, did we appreciate those who made it possible? Well, in the celebrations we forgot those who were the secrets workers, spending hours in rooms working their way through repeated failures in coming out with vaccines. Now, across the world, we have more than one vaccine certified for public service. And, exactly why, we could hope to come back to normalcy soon. The pandemic has been an unprecedented year for all of us, and we need to celebrate those who took the lead to swim through the grim waters.
Vanity is a luxury not everyone could afford. And, all of us have taken this for granted forever. We have aspired for the lives of celebrities and forever looked down upon those who create entertainment for us. When the world shut down, one of the people who were most struck were those from the entertainment industry. People who made us cry, laugh, think, love, was the last priority. However, through the pandemic, these people have stood strong to spread little ounces of joy each day.
Striving through their mental stress, they chose to relieve us from ours. Yes, this might be a privilege they have had, but the pandemic was the same mental stress for all of us. And, even if we do not celebrate them, let us at the very least, say a thank you to these people. A thank you note on social media to those, who helped you come through this. We are sure, there would be at least one you want to thank.
To most of us, independence day meant the celebration of the republic. Celebrating the spirit of the country, its bureaucrats, the government officials, and people in the higher-order. However, this year was the time of epiphanies. Our lives might not be happening, if the little pieces in our society do not come together to do their part. From the grocery store owners to the florist at the end of the street, everyone makes our life as colorful as it is. Maybe, this is our time to acknowledge all these pieces in our puzzle of everyday life.
This independence day, we at WMH only urge you to start small, start slow, start together. Rebuilding our lives from the grief that has become so habitual is a wobbly path ahead. But, there is hope. We are not alone in this journey, we have a community that will take us ahead. All you need to do is, look out for them and they will look out for you. And, that is what we are, that is what America is, that is what makes you and me, us.
Happy Independence Day Champs!
