Modeling Myth and Fact

#1 Myth: Models get fat checks after every fashion show!
Fact: Unless you are a supermodel you are not the one getting juicy greens every now and then, the average, relatively newer models barely make enough to cover the traveling expenses, or worse, do it for the experience. So fat checks are a total myth.

#2 Myth: The thinner the better.
Fact: Just being thin does not make you a model, Eating disorders are directly associated with the profession, which in fact is a real thing and as of date, models who are under the authorized body mass index are not allowed to walk the ramp. The modeling agencies stress upon the fact that models need to be healthy and fit.

#3 Myth: 5’9” + or you are out!
Fact: Being tall might be an advantage but that definitely is not the only criteria to become a model. There are models of every height and weight, Models like Sara Sampaio, Hailey Baldwin or Kate Moss who is 5’6” and was one of the most iconic models of her time.

#4 Modelling Myth: Beauty without brains.
Fact: There is a lot more to the pretty faces we watch walking down the ramp. Many of the models have a degree or are pursuing their studies along with a sterling career in modelling. Joan Smalls, Victoria’s Secret model has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Kate Grigorieva is a Russian model who has walked for Victoria’s Secret and has a bachelor’s degree in Marketing. Gigi was studying criminal psychology which she plans to continue later.

#5 Modelling Myth: Plus-size models can eat whatever they want! Modelling myth
Fact: Just because of the word, doesn’t mean the models can binge on food at all times. These models also need to follow a strict diet and exercise routine to maintain their hourglass figures. No matter whatever size you are, binge-eating is always a bad idea!
