Technology and love are two absolutely varied parts of one’s life. This is what the world thought before realizing the power of technology. The powers with which technology can handhold a certain person and help them build their love story with the person of interest living in another part of the world.
It is technology that has created and built the gaps between beautiful relationships in today’s world. It is technology that helps people bridge the various time zones and still help blow candles over Skype on the special someone’s birthday. It is boon and bane both, in its own ways.
Technology, in today’s time, plays a rather important role in our day to day lifestyle. But, does it play the role of cupid too, that is something to be found out.
Major parts of our days are spent in front of the laptop screens, tablets and smartphones, now the million dollar question is if these devices are bringing us closer or are they drawing us further apart? We rush to work in the morning, talk to the person over call and texts while on our ways in the bus or train- isn’t this what we call making time for the nurturing of a beautiful relation?
Many say that the answer a to the above depends completely on the decade that one is born in. The Boomers and Gen-Xers end up judging the younger clan
staring at their devices and gadgets and call them anti-social but little do they realize that the new generation are not being anti-social, they are just socializing differently.
Technology is not necessarily a bad thing or a problem anymore, especially when the people using them are growing responsible to be able to handle their social responsibilities and sensibilities. Nobody really is using social media and technology to get away with a secret life anymore.
The act of ghosting someone on the social media instead of breaking up with them in person can be a problem as it’s the reason to avoid responsibility of your actions.
I wouldn’t say that things like these do not exist anymore, they most definitely do but the majority of the users now know the consequences of such things. They are aware that with the privilege comes social responsibility and act upon them to make the social space a safe and worthwhile place to survive and sustain.
Many of us have actually considered and time and again been a part of discussions about whether technology is strengthening relations or isolating them. Even though this has been a major concern but the findings are very clear and mostly consistent. It is said that social media users tend to develop a more close relationship, not just online, but in real life as well.
It is said that technology is bolstering relationships in a positive way and some of the ways are as follows:
Now, not everything can be all shiny and pretty. There is a flip-side to every coin , though, and this increased connectivity also brings the potential for problems. One can have a lovely conversation across the globe and look at that face but the feel to it is missing today.
It is a great way for us to communicate with our loved ones, but it can also put a strain on our relationships. That whole rush of emotions is what this generation is missing out via their FaceTime and WhatsApp. It is also noticed that a number of individuals would not want to be a part of a Long Distance Relationship (LDR) as they are scared that their partner might end up cheating on them.
The missing of personal touch and physical presence does take a step back in a relationship and makes up cases of a number of cheating and deceiving in today’s times. There is no technological solution to time zones.
Technology can be an effective distraction when being with your romantic partner , resulting in arguements and stress.“No Phone Challenge” is the result of such issues as the study shows the heavy users of the smartphone have higher anxiety levels than moderate users .
Technology and social media have become extremely important part of a person’s life. They help to open up to the world without being judged and helps in coping with various mechanisms, which gets really difficult to be talked about in the open.
Technology can help or hurt your relationships, it’s all in how you use it. It is a boon as long as it’s our slave. It’s when we let it become a master, that it becomes a bane. When you say technology is dominating your life, in a sense you are allowing it to do so. Technology is the greatest invention of mankind whereas love is a strong feeling of affection and concern toward another person. It’s you who is going to bring a balance between both.
Being humans, we should decide where to draw the line by using it appropriately. With a little planning and communication ,technology can be managed and you can make sure it enhances your relationships rather than interfering with them. Many of us have actually considered and time and again been a part of discussions about whether technology is strengthening relations or isolating them. Even though this has been a major concern but the findings are very clear and mostly consistent.
