“I went as an observer, not a participant, for I do not think that I ever spoke. I wanted to understand the issues under discussion, evaluate the arguments, see the caliber of the men involved.” ~ Nelson Mandela
As Nelson Mandela said, an introvert is somewhat of an observer. They observe the situation from the outside without being involved directly. Hence, they have a better understanding of a situation than anyone in the room.
People often perceive introverts as someone who never leaves their room and prefer being alone all the time. This notion is true but to some extent, it is just a stereotype. That is simply because the introvert idea of fun is different from their idea of fun! Although the notion of an introvert not having social skills is false. Introverts do have social skills. The main quality that makes a person an introvert is the need to recharge often with solitude after a social interaction.
The social life
Introverts have friends that they rarely make. Once they feel that you are comfortable to be with. You can be their friend. They will always take time to get involved with you. If you come across one at a party, make sure to take it slow and not intimidate them with high enthusiasm. When it comes to relationships or love lives. Most introverts make a great one-sided lover. They will jump off the bridge rather than asking their crush out. You can sense their awkwardness from even a mile away. On occasions like wedding ceremonies or get-togethers, Introverts prefer to stand away and observe everyone present in the room.
For them, traveling is a boon as well as a bane. If they travel, they travel alone. Whereas, there is a problem for them there as they are going to be around people. Now, as they are a professional at avoiding people, they would never forget their i-pod or music and headset. Also, a book to avoid eye contact with people. Hence, whenever you see such people, make sure you keep your distance. In an era of social media, everyone is busy posting selfies and all the updates of their lives. Although, you can see that introverts are more interested in scrolling than posting anything. Also, they make sure that no one catches them online. Imagine their state at the time of their birthdays!
To conclude!
Introverts can have more social life than any of us can imagine. Not all introverts are shy or passive. Being an introvert only means that your energy drains when you are in a social situation and you need constant recharging by being alone. They love the people around them as much as any other person would. But the confusion starts when you start comparing introverts and extroverts. They both belong to different emotional ranges and the amount of tolerance. Introverts hunt friends too! They can and have a social life just like extroverts do. Just the frequency of the same is different.
