Jonathan Flamm – Writer and Model – September 2020

This edition of the magazine has Jonathan Flamm talking about his journey. Congratulations on getting the cover of world model hunt magazine. We would want our readers to know more about you, through our magazine. From what we have heard is that you are just someone who is very versatile and ready and willing to walk that extra mile for making a shoot more creative.

Question: We have looked at a ton of your pictures and we would say that our sources were 100% on the money. You are a hardworking man in the world of modeling, what got you into modeling?

Very much appreciated. Well, first and foremost, I am a writer. I had offers from various studios for my screen ays, but due to the complexities of not having a green card: in conjunction with the current economic situation; along with exchange rates, it has been difficult to network in pursuit of those endeavors, after several people suggested I get some headshots to build an acting portfolio to network here in Toronto, I got photos and put them on Instagram while waiting for my agency. Then surprisingly, I got inundated with requests to have photoshoots. So, I figured, why not? I feel it is a fun way of engaging in creative outlets while this virus is going on, and I really had very few well-taken pictures of myself before all this, as I am a shy person.

Question: Talking about dreams, passion, where do you want to see yourself as a model in the coming time.

Honestly, I did not really plan any of this. I am just trying to build my portfolio and see where it goes from there. Not including quarantine time, I have only had about four months of actual shooting time, so I am new to all of this myself.

Question: This situation with the global pandemic has caused a lot of suffering to models. How has it affected you personally with your career?

Primarily the inability to travel to la to continue to pitch my screenplays, but it has also limited my ability to be able to have photoshoots at all for months. In addition, I was going to film an independent feature this summer, which would be a logistical nightmare at this present time.

Question: Help us understand the challenges that you face being a model?

There is a lot of judgment coming from many directions from people who assume many things. It is hard to keep track. But as a writer, it is good to experience the other side of the camera.

Question: How has your journey been so far as a model?

Things went incredibly fast, then slowed down to a crawl during COVID, and are now slowly picking up again. I am just going along for the ride, and to create quality content

Question: If you had some extra money to donate, what kind of charity would you pick? (e.G. Animal welfare, children education, feed the hungry etc.)

I am a supporter of the world wildlife fund. Many of our issues can be financed with a reallocation of funding. But the animals sometimes need assistance too, and oftentimes, they are excluded.

Question: What would you like to say to other upcoming models? Any specific tips that might help them?

I would say to pursue as many other creative outlets as possible. Because they all feed each other. If you learn from them and take advantage of the time you have, as there’s a pretty small window where you can do this as a career.
